AGES 3 to 8th GRADE
NOW ENROLLING
.
AGES 3 to 5
Exposure in the formative years to a broad range of knowledge in culture, geography and science provides “hooks in the brain” for all future learning. Hands-on materials bring abstract concepts to life, helping children to comprehend in a deep and meaningful way. Children experience personal pride and feelings of self-worth associated with working independently and for their own purposes, by following through on their tasks and producing exceptional work. Opportunities are presented for children to choose their own work, to work for uninterrupted time periods and to repeat activities; all of this is essential to the development of self-direction, attention span and concentration.
1st to 3rd GRADE
Children learn fundamentals of algebra and physics in concrete and thought-provoking ways that help them apply concepts to real-world situations. Culture and history are made into thrilling journeys into the past and around the world as children delve into their studies with full-throttle creativity. Guest presenters, field trips and special family projects inspire a deep-seated love of learning that will shape their minds for a lifetime of open-mindedness, curiosity and native critical thinking.
4TH and 5TH GRADE
An integrated curriculum of broad and fascinating knowledge in science, history and geography is revisited in greater and more challenging depth each year. Intellectually stimulating, the program also provides opportunities for students to gain valuable life skills such as organization, self-direction, personal responsibility and interpersonal cooperation. High academic standards require students to truly master a subject before moving on. Computers and technology support all areas of the curriculum.
6TH TO 8TH GRADE
In addition to a rich study of history and the humanities, students learn, practice, and master a variety of writing techniques as they find their own voice and learn to express themselves with clarity and precision. In math, the foundation built from the Montessori math materials is now almost fully abstract as we focus on critical thinking, problem solving, and building a strong algebraic foundation. Science study is enriched with investigations in both the laboratory and the field to foster questioning minds and independent thinking. Most importantly, we want our students to develop a life-long love of learning and the intrinsic motivation to always be in pursuit of knowledge.
THE WHOLE CHILD
Classrooms integrate ages with a three year range, allowing for children to interact with those older and younger them, and allowing them to learn how to be leaders and role models.
Research has shown that time spent in nature is integral to the mental and emotional development of children. We emphasize learning from the fascinating world around us.
Our staff are highly educated, with several holding Master's degrees. Our head teachers are certified in the Montessori method of education for their age level and are continually seeking continuing education and further credentials.
We believe in helping children learn to work independently as well as in a group setting, exercise autonomy, and learn practical, hands-on skills that will set them up for personal and professional success.
THE GREAT OUTDOORS
We emphasize time in the great outdoors. Our campus has a large gated outside area with play structures, large sand box, bicycles, tire swings, gardens and more.
We have access to a large field where we play games and sports. Children frequently go on nature walks and explore the hiking trails and breathtaking UCC campus.
We believe in cultivating a strong sense of community, where all members of the family feel welcome to get involved.
Programs and Events
We have an active Parent Teacher Organization and have family and community events all year.
Field Trips
Maple Corner Montessori organizes field trips to enhance the curriculum and help children learn about the wider world.
HIGHLY QUALIFIED EDUCATORS
Our staff are highly educated and credentialed. We keep a low student-to-teacher ratio, so students get the one-on-one time that they need.
Every child has a seed of excellence inside. It just needs to be nourished.
ENRICHMENT
Elementary students have P.E. classes twice a week. The UCC track, fields and hiking trails are incorporated into many of our PE classes.
Our classes enjoy art, music, and drama as a part of their specials rotations as well as embedded into classroom lessons.
Science, technology, engineering, art and math play a major role in student learning. It is interwoven in our Cultural curriculum and also used in our tinkering workshops.

Planting Seeds of Excellence.
Warm and inviting classrooms where children are treated with respect and multi-age grouping creates a community of happy students who mentor, inspire and learn from one another. Low child-to-teacher ratios ensure each child is guided through the curriculum, receives many individual and small group lessons each day and ultimately achieves his or her academic potential.
An emphasis is placed on community service and helping others. Active instruction in peacemaking, conflict resolution strategies and respect for others promotes sociability. Outdoor classrooms and gardens, field trips and guest speakers enhance the extensive curriculum. Children are given ample time in the outdoor environment by spending time in the garden and in other natural settings.
Our location affords us access to hiking trails around the UCC campus.
